You are a wonderful story teller. I love that when I read your words I hear them in your voice. Isn't that amazing as I do not know you except for the videos and posts I have been fortunate to hear/see. All the best from the largest island mainland America....Whidbey Island.
I went to school for one quarter in Hawaii. I have never smelled such lovely floral scented air as there on Maui! And I have travelled quit a bit! No ka oi!
Thank you Heide! That means a lot! I used to enjoy recording audio readings for my articles too but I just can’t seem to find the time these days. So I’m glad you hear it like that anyway!
Thank you! Google tells me 111F is about 44C, so you’ve definitely got us beat. Here in Wales we start melting at 30C because we’re dealing with 90-95% humidity and no air conditioning 😅very different conditions to a desert!
thank you for making the weather distinction. it’s crucial to understand what extreme heat in beautiful country like your wales might feel like vs this desert, which has two and half months of absolute skin scorching bone dry heat.
NO humidity and no way to exist without air conditioning. plus scorpions and sidewinders.
no horse flies.
my garden currently lays fallow😆 come fall we plant all fall and winter long with great success! looking forward to your fermentation book.
Thank you for this amazing newsletter. What you write about the narrative and how we try to use it in the face of impermanence is perhaps the most incisive thing I have come across.
Presently, I am reading "The Fermentation Kitchen". It is so well written that I am seriously considering starting to cook and ferment myself.
